Huka Lodge
World famous hospitality and style
Consistently recognised as one of the top hotels in the world, Huka Lodge is located on the lush green banks of the Waikato River in Taupo, New Zealand. Since its opening in 1924 the Lodge has attracted royalty, celebrities and those in search of a world class hospitality experience. When it changed hands in 1984 the new owner chose to honour the history of the lodge whilst adding greater luxury.
Design story
The aim of Huka Lodge is to create the most exceptional hospitality experience for the world’s most discerning travellers. Renowned New Zealand-born interior designer Virginia Fisher was selected to deliver on that brief when designing the interiors.
Huka Lodge offers accommodation within a series of lodge suites and cottages. Fisher has created interiors to complement and enhance the extraordinarily beautiful location. Chic and deliberately understated are the signatures of this iconic property.
The Alan Pye Cottage is a contemporary version of an Arts and Crafts cottage with a superb colour palette and a fabulously eclectic interior. The overall effect is intimate, sensual, and elegant.
The Owners Cottage has a deliberately muted colour palette using soft cream and caramel hues for the walls and bleached oak wooden parquet floors throughout. This creates an ambience of calm restful relaxation within the Cottage. The entire retreat is furnished with unique pieces chosen for their comfort, beauty and history.
Creating the exceptional
The team at PLN called upon our most experienced craftspeople to ensure that the comfort and finish of every piece of furniture we created was exceptional. These pieces have been selected by Virginia Fisher to become classics and beloved parts of the Lodge’s history.
The sophistication and style of Huka Lodge is evident in the attention to detail and awareness of every aspect of the guest experience. It’s easy to see why this retreat is consistently rated as one of the world’s best.
